Our counselling service is a collaborative project with Great Yarmouth College and we are very kindly offered use of the beautiful counselling rooms at the Big C in Great Yarmouth. This service is kindly funded by Norfolk Community Foundation.
As a key element of our support to enable young people to move to full independence we recognise the importance of offering support in many areas; tenancy management, financial awareness & money management, employability and health and wellbeing.
Our young people often need emotional support to enable them to develop coping mechanisms and resilience and an opportunity to talk about issues they may be facing, both currently and from the past. We are proud to be able to offer our young people the opportunity to talk in a safe, confidential and supportive environment.
Our counsellors are in their final stages of training. They are trained in a variety of approaches and as a service we work to the ethical framework for good practice of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Counsellors are ethically bound to keep everything in a counselling session confidential. They won’t share any information with anyone outside the counselling agency, unless in very rare cases a person’s welfare or safety is at risk. You can express a preference for a male or female counsellor.
